About

Oreo is our small black therapy pony in training, with a bright white spot on his forehead and a gentle, curious personality. His calm presence helps children, teens, and families feel safe enough to slow down, breathe, and connect. Our goal is to create a space where people can practice new skills and experience comfort, all with a soft pony nose nearby.

As part of our equine-assisted therapy and equine-assisted ABA programs, Oreo works alongside our clinicians and behavior teams. Clients may brush him, walk beside him, or simply sit near him while practicing skills like emotional regulation, communication, boundary-setting, and body awareness. Because of his smaller size and friendly demeanor, Oreo is especially supportive for individuals who may feel nervous around larger horses or who are new to animal-assisted services.

Oreo also serves as one of our community ambassadors. He enjoys attending events, greeting families, and helping introduce people to the Stella Ridge vision and our equine-assisted programs. Whether he is standing quietly for grooming, posing for photos, or offering a gentle nuzzle, Oreo often becomes a grounding point for kids and adults alike.

Most importantly, Oreo reminds us that healing does not have to be rushed. He moves at a gentle pace, notices the people around him, and invites clients to do the same—one step, one breath, and one pony cuddle at a time.

Education

Oreo is currently in intensive foundational training in patience, gentle handling, and standing politely for tiny brushes and big feelings. He works closely with our equine specialists and therapists, and all of his interactions with clients happen under direct professional supervision to keep both clients and herd members safe and supported.
