Some Kids Don't Qualify for Help. But They Still Need It.

There’s a gap in our mental health system, and thousands of children fall right through it. Their families earn too much for Medicaid, too little for real insurance, and not enough to afford the care their kids deserve. We’re here to close that gap.

THE GAP IS REAL

Medicaid covers children in low-income families. Private insurance covers children whose parents have good jobs. But there’s a whole group in between: families who work hard, earn just enough to be disqualified from assistance, and still can’t afford insurance for the mental health care their kids need.

These children go without therapy. Without support. Without a fair shot.

They aren’t asking for a handout. Their parents are working. They’re doing everything right. But the system wasn’t built for them, and without help, these kids fall further and further behind.

At Transformative Growth Counseling, we built our sliding scale program specifically to catch these families. We rely entirely on donors like you to keep that program running. Every single gift, no matter the size, goes directly toward getting a child the care they deserve.

Quick Facts

  • Licensed clinicians: psychologists, LCPCs, LCSWs, RBTs, and BCBAs
  • Services include individual therapy, ABA, couples counseling, and equine-assisted therapy
  • Sliding scale program available for uninsured and underinsured families
  • Accepting most major insurance plans and Medicaid in Illinois

A Licensed, Clinician-Led Practice: Built for the People Left Behind

Care is delivered and overseen by licensed psychologists, LCPCs, LCSWs, RBTs, and BCBAs. Every program is treatment-plan driven, trauma-informed, and tracked with clear goals and outcomes. This is not a hobby project. It is a professional, evidence-based mental health practice built to serve the people most often left behind.

PROOF OF IMPACT

We don’t just talk about closing the gap. We’re already doing it. Transformative Growth Counseling serves hundreds of clients across Illinois and Florida every single day. Families who were told they didn’t qualify. Kids who were turned away elsewhere. They found care here, because donors like you made it possible. Help us reach the ones still waiting.

OUR GOAL

There are children in our community right now who need mental health support and can’t get it, not because care doesn’t exist, but because no one has stepped up to fund it for them. That’s where you come in.

Every dollar donated to TGC goes directly toward expanding our sliding scale program, so that a child’s ability to get help is never determined by what their parents earn.

Every gift, no matter the size, puts care within reach for a child who has nowhere else to turn.

WAYS TO SUPPORT US

Financial Gifts: One-time or monthly. Every dollar brings a child closer to the care they deserve.

Gift in Kind: Donate $350 or more and receive a Gift in Kind, a Pony Party or Pony Event hosted by TGC’s therapy ponies. A $350 gift brings one pony (Oreo or Coco), and a $450 gift brings both. A meaningful thank-you for a meaningful gift. See the Donation menu above for full details.

Fundraising Ambassadors: Want to help us fundraise? We’ll give you everything you need to rally your network and make a real difference for kids in your community.

Give a Gift in Kind: Party with a Pony

Donate $350 or more and receive a truly unique thank-you, a Pony Party or Pony Event hosted by TGC’s therapy ponies. A $350 donation brings one pony, Oreo or Coco, to your celebration. A $450 donation brings both Oreo and Coco together for double the fun. Kids and families get to brush, lead, and spend time with a therapy pony in a safe, supervised setting.
Your donation supports mental health care for children who can’t afford it. Your gift in kind makes someone’s day unforgettable.
Available as a thank-you for donations of $350 or more. Scheduling depends on pony and staff availability. After your donation, our team will contact you to confirm your date and details.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

First of its kind in DuPage County: Licensed mental health care combined with equine-assisted therapy and ABA, all under one roof, accessible to families who are too often turned away.

Clinical leadership: Licensed clinicians (psychologists, LCPCs, LCSWs, RBTs, BCBAs) run every program. Ethical, evidence-based, outcome-tracked.

Whole-family, lifespan care: Kids, teens, adults, and couples are all welcome.

Sliding scale access: For families in the gap, too much income for Medicaid, not enough for full-cost care. This is who we serve.

Equine-assisted therapy: Clinically supported care with our therapy ponies, Oreo and Coco, for children who benefit from animal-assisted approaches.
