On campus mental health care for students & staff.
Transformative Growth Counseling Foundation (TGC) is now available on campus at Kankakee Community College! We provide community mental health counseling for students and staff, who may be going through variety of stressors at work, school or life. We offer sliding scale services to actively enrolled students, GED participants & their families. We also accept many types of insurance. TGC works with students (and staff) to make counseling accessible and affordable; and students will not be turned away for inability to pay.
As experts in trauma and its effects on individuals and their family, all counselors at KCC are formally trained in understanding and helping people heal from emotional, physical and sexual trauma, repairing attachment & trust in relationships, PTSD and stress-related reactions. Our KCC-based counselors are required to continue their education with extra coursework in clinical trauma treatment, within the 90 days of being with TGC.

How do I make an appointment?
Students and staff of KCC can make appointments to see a counselor by contacting us via email or phone.
To make an appointment by phone, please have the following items handy, then call 630-423-6010.
- Your KCC ID Number, proof of enrollment (OR contact us from your KCC email).
- Your insurance card, if you have one.
- Your calendar (for scheduling).
You can also fill out our Contact Us page.
If you have insurance, we are in network with:
Aetna, Allied Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Compsych, HealthLink, and United Behavioral Health, and Optum.
Even if we are not in network with your insurance, most insurance plans have out of network benefits. Our office will submit claims on your behalf and will look into your out-of-network benefits – don’t let your insurance type get in the way of getting help. Our foundation helps to provide financial assistance for those with high deductible/ insurance related financial difficulties.
You can also use your Flex card or HSA, cash, check or debit/credit card. Payment is due at the time services are delivered. We bill, set appointments and complete intake paperwork through an electronic health platform – you’ll be sent instructions for registering with us. All your information is 100% confidential, and kept separate from your educational records/files.
As a part of TGC Foundation’s mission to help improve access to mental health in our local communities, we work with Medicaid and persons without insurance.
Staff at KCC:
Staff can contact Jessica Norman, PhD in person on Wednesdays at KCC, by phone at 630-423-6010, or via our contact form.
