Are you ready to heal your relationship and love again?

Joe Phillips, MSW is a warm and compassionate clinical therapist and social worker who specializes in Relationships.

What does that mean?

Relationships are what humans are built to do do! It’s not just romantic: it also encompasses all the other relationships we have – parents, siblings, children, community, extended family, your boss or employees, friends and of course, your romantic partner.

Most people who work with Joe, are seeking help with their romantic relationship, but Joe does all types of relationships:  romantic, transactional (work) , family and friendships!

Through evidence based, emotionally focused counseling for individuals, couples, and children, Joe will help you discover the dynamics and struggles within a troubled relationship.

In treating relationships (e.g. couples), Joe uses Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy to help you and your partner, or family, change their attachment to each other.

Why Emotionally focused therapy for relationships? Click here to learn more about how and why attachment therapy works !

In scenarios where there are relationship pains and troubles but you are the only one able or willing to attend therapy, that’s ok too! Joe can still help you find ways to transform your relationships to others and yourself.  You needn’t come with your partner or family to benefit from relationship/attachment therapy!

And…..for those in Non- monogamous, poly, kink, or LGBTQIA relationships, Joe takes a sex positive, flexible approach to working with these unique relationship issues. Sexual minority couples have different dynamics and internal workings than the traditional, monogamous Male-Female couple.

For Individual Therapy:

Are you ready to live in the hear and now? Joe can help you overcome anxiety, depression or communication issues that seem to have controlled the trajectory of your life and relationships.

As individuals we have past wounds that when left untreated leave us unable to be in healthy honest relationships with others. Through addressing those wounds, we will prepare you to be the best partner, friend, worker, or sibling possible -and you’ll learn how to expect the same treatment and love from others, too.

Joe’s priority is to provide a safe space where you can individually or as a couple speak your truth and obtain tools that you can use in all aspects of your life. Using attachment and Emotionally Focused Therapy as a base we will walk together to establish and maintain secure attachment that can be modeled in all your relationships. You will learn and practice healthy communication and conflict resolution that will help you make progress toward a happy and successful life.

Joe also treats and can help you with:

I have a master’s degree in Social Work with a certificate in disaster and collective trauma from Tulane School of Social Work in New Orleans, LA. I am active in contributing to my field’s body of knowledge through my research on the mental health and social needs of rural students, and the development of evidence based peer to peer programming.
